Very lazy morning only making it out the door for 11am when the cleaners were meant to arrive… Had awful breakfast of pointless coffee and gopping waffles plus tried the ‘sweets’ purchased last night.
Walked to Nijo Castle. Not massively impressive but busy. Not allowed to take photos so a bit pointless but squeaky ninja floor was interesting. Lovely woodwork and nipple detailing.
Very hot day! So slow wondering.
Got on train at Marumatonchi to Kokauji for botanic garden. Walked for miles in dead suburbs including awful shopping centre along to river.
Took a side street and found a tiny super Jap café with old lady who made super strong coffee opposite temple with statues of old men.
Continued wandering and happened upon imperial palace – massive but no way in main accom so forest wandered and twitched. (poo catching old woman)
Not worth a trip home so headed back to Gion – mostly walked but last two stops on Keikan railway to Oxford street. Tried to find new area but ended up near Dontocho. Ended up in tapas bar for Kronenburg blancs. English speaking owner arrived and commented on my ‘big in japan’ t-shirt. Informed me it supports ‘war to japan’.
EMAIL TKMAXX!!!
Ran to nearest outlet and bough printed t-shirts.
Thinking mine was meaning ‘weak of heart – small fly’ and K bought ‘lots of troubles/issues’ for £20-30!
Nipped back to tapas for them to piss themselves over our tourist trap suckerment. Mine means I am nothing – small fish. K’s means ‘small moments’.
Went for a rubbish cocktail and I changed into K’s new t-shirt after barkeep commented on mine.
Looked for riverside restaurant and found perfect set menu place with fois gras and wagu.
Taxi home (after being kicked out of one) in super quick time to note that cleaners couldn’t get in. Wifi dead so no faux pas update. Bed.
